What a charming man” chorus all those who share the stage with him as soon as his name is mentioned! It is a delight to see and hear this calm, scrupulous pianist who seems to be quite at odds with our frenzied world. His virtuosity is not writ large, a different sort of miracle is at work here; it lies in the spellbinding connection he establishes with the listener, unleashing an unprecedented level of emotional authenticity.
